The Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR) in Anglophone Africa is a rapidly growing center of capacity development and research in the monitoring and evaluation field in the region. With five years of experience strengthening national monitoring and evaluation systems, and implementing monitoring and evaluation tools and approaches in a regional context, we have a wealth of experience and practice-based knowledge about regionally appropriate tools, approaches, and methods in monitoring and evaluation. We have taken many steps towards building a body of knowledge about the region, and are building partnerships with relevant institutions in the region to continue to strengthen M&E capacity. This field has been under researched, and CLEAR staff are actively looking for partnerships with researchers in both monitoring and evaluation, and in sectoral areas such as gender, public administration, transport, governance, education, and urban planning to build scholarship that can both inform our future work, but also drive the development of theory in our respective arenas. Current CLEAR staff have a wide variety of research interests, and an example of some recent academic work coming out of the center can be found in the African Evaluation Journal.
While we are unable to fund visiting research fellows, we are able to openly and enthusiastically share all data owned by the center, offer you access to the world class library and research facilities at Wits University, include researchers in our ongoing project work, offer atmospheric office space with good coffee, and share ideas and dilemmas as we tackle common problems.
