Meet Mr Berhanu, President of the Ethiopian Evaluation Association (EEvA)….
As the president of this young but growing Association, Mr Berhanu is working hard to improve the credibility and quality of evaluation in Ethiopia.
He believes that evaluation should be professionalised and to this end the Association is developing standards for evaluation in partnership with a number of other organisations.
His main priorities for the next year are to support the development of a culture evaluation with a variety of decisions-makers – particularly donors and government, and to build the capacity of evaluation professionals in the country. He sees the EEvA as an opportunity for to set the agenda and provide Ethiopian-led evaluation leadership within the country.
Given the funding challenges for civil society in Ethiopia, Mr Berhanu is also working on finding local funding for the EEvA to ensure the Association can remain accessible to all those who wish to join and contribute.
To all those Ethiopians who aren’t yet a part of the EEvA, go ahead and sign-up. And for the rest of us, watch this exciting space. To find out more, email Mr Berhanu on firstname.lastname@example.org
