As part of CLEAR-AA’s Eval-Africa Seminar Series, we’d like to invite you to Durban for an all day seminar on “The challenges of evaluation and results use in sub-national policy making“.

The seminar brings together evaluation professionals and policy-makers to discuss the use, challenges, issues and innovations in evaluation for development and good governance in Africa. Eval-Africa seminars are hosted throughout the year at different Universities throughout Africa and bring together evaluation practitioners, academics, government officials and civil society actors engaged in various fields of development and public policy.

The topics covered at this event include;

  • The importance of aligning provincial policies with national outcomes (and the role of evaluation use ) current challenges/ impediments
  • The challenges of using evaluation results in provincial decision making, Examples from Western Cape / Gauteng/ KZN
  • The role of academia/education and research institutions in promoting evaluation and evaluation result use in public policy – eg in KZN
  • How can evaluation improve KZNs new economic development focus programmes E.g. The economic development hub
  • Sources of evidence and emerging models e.g. Systematic reviews, REAs, etc.
